Have a look at the attached link to the web-site of an Interreg project called "Crosscut". Nothing to do with saws I think but a play on the English Canaliers word "cut" meaning a canal.
http://www.crosscut-nwe.eu/Crosscut_Sustainable_develop.11.0.html It looks at a number of canal projects in Ireland (Strabane), UK (Montgomery, Grand Western & Bude, Monmouthshire & Brecon), Belgium (Canals of Hainaut - including the great lifts at La Louviere) & Netherlands (Canals of Utrecht & Apeldoorn Canal).
The focus is on sustainable development and one interesting paper is on the hydraulic effects of boats moving along the Montgomery Canal See

Es lohnt sich ein Blick auf die Web-Seite von dem Interreg Projekt, welches „Crosscut“ genannt wird, zu werfen. Ich denke allerdings, dass es nichts mit „Sägen“ zu tun hat, es ist wohl eher ein Wortspiel mit dem Englischen Kanalfahrerwort „cut“, welches Kanal bedeutet.

Es werden eine Anzahl von Kanalprojekten in Irland (Strabane), in UK (Montgomery, Grand Western & Bude, Monmouthshire & Brecon), in Belgien (Canals of Hainaut – einschließlich der großen Hebevorrichtung bei La Louviere) & in den Niederlanden (Canals of Utrecht & Apeldoorn Canal) betrachtet. Der Schwerpunkt befindet sich auf der umweltverträglichen Entwicklung. Ein interessantes Referat behandelt die hydraulische Auswirkungen auf die Boote, die sich entlang des Montgomery Kanals bewegen.
